Peak Literacy's mission is to prepare students for personal and collective success through consistent one-to-one reading instruction provided by competent and nurturing volunteers. We use the research-based Great Leaps Reading Program to deliver personalized lessons to students who are two or more years behind in their reading levels. Our amazing volunteer reading coaches are central to the success of our students' progress. Therefore, we ask for a minimum one-semester commitment.

We are now recruiting for fall volunteers. Most of our lessons will take place virtually, 15 minutes a day, five times a week through our online platform between the hours of 2:30 pm-9:00 pm. 

We are also actively working on expanding our in-person opportunities for the fall semester at multiple ACPS locations and afterschool provider locations. These volunteer roles will require a minimum commitment of one day per week for 90 minutes throughout the fall semester. You'll have the chance to indicate your availability and schedule a training session when completing your application.
